Sites
Overall marketing/business plan
- Has the Web site (and Internet marketing plan) been merged
into the overall marketing/business plan?
- Has the Web site entered into the overall marketing and business
strategic thinking?
- Has Marketing/Sales department been involved in the development
of the Web site?
Purpose/goal
- What is the purpose and goal of the Web site?
- Does the Web site fulfill this purpose and goal?
- Has Marketing/Sales department agreed with the choice of this purpose and
goal?
Targeting
- Who is the target of the Web site?
- Does the Web site reach this target?
- Has Marketing/Sales department agreed with the choice of this target?
Layout
- Is the layout of the Web site pleasing to the eye? [i.e. not too crowded,
not too sparse; good use of white space and color; etc.]
- Is the layout consistent?
Speed
- Does the Web site load up quickly?
- If not, what is slowing it down and is it worth it? [e.g. a complicated
graphic that slows load up time by one minute and is not necessary.]
Links
- Do all the links work?
- Do they link to the correct pages?
- Are additional links needed?
Graphics
- Do the graphics within the Web site serve a specific function or are they
there just for show?
- Are there too many or too few graphics?
Content
- Is the content appropriate?
- Is the Web site up-to-date? [i.e. using this year's information and technology.]
- Is the writing professional in nature? [i.e. correct grammar, spelling,
etc.]
- Is information easily found within the Web site?
- Is the size of the site appropriate? [i.e. 25 pages when 10 will suffice.]
- Are the features appropriate? [i.e. search buttons; site maps; etc.]
- How often will new information have to added?
- How does the Web site compare with both other Web sites and with the competition's
Web site? [i.e. comparisons using the information in this questionnaire.]
Technical
- Who will update the Web site? [i.e. will you hire a Webmaster.]
- Will changes to the Web site be made quickly?
- Does the site have Meta tags? Do they accomplish their purpose?
- Has the site been submitted to the appropriate portals and search engines?
- Is the site written in standard HTML? [i.e. some browsers will only accept
standard HTML and will treat nonstandard code as text or superfluous code.
This can result in code actually appearing on the page or being ignored.]
- Has the site been tested with all available browsers? [i.e. a page can look
different on different browsers.]
- Are the technical aspects to the Web site appropriate? [e.g. If frames are
used, are you aware that some search engines/portals do not support frames
and, if so, is it worth it? What about active x controls, plug-ins, etc.?]
