Difficult Financing

Often companies find it difficult to obtain financing. Renaissance consultants have been able to identify and locate sources that may not have been considered. Below is a case history illustrating Renaissance consultants' success in obtaining difficult financing.

Type of Company: Dental implant manufacturer
Type of Ownership: Private: Investor Group
Position:                   Transition Manager

Problem: A U.S. dental company with proprietary technology had successfully "bootstrap" financed its pre-marketing start-up, and was seeking financing to execute entry into the market. Company had contacted several funding sources including venture capitalists, investment bankers and private placement firms. Company had also talked with potential corporate partners but no progress was being made, even though several sources expressed a level of interest.
Action: Conferred with management and developed an overall strategy that allowed company to move forward with its market entry, and at the same time identified investment candidates with the highest probability of closing. Repositioned the company to a more aggressive, confident posture that focused on its seasoned managers and unique product with significant market potential.
Developed a selling document that included company's five-year business plan, as well as the progress and accomplishments of the company to-date. Reestablished negotiations with the company's prior investment contacts. Identified and introduced additional interested investors. Developed a negotiating strategy for dealing with potential corporate partners.
Results: Participated in the negotiations. Within three months a public corporate partner was secured, the companies merged, and the transaction closed.
